Boco leaves Stanley
Rommy Boco has left Accrington Stanley after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.
The Benin international forward has just returned to the club from the African Cup of Nations, but following talks this afternoon the player and club have agreed to amicably part company. His departure brings to an end his two-and-a-half year association with Stanley.
Speaking about the news this afternoon, Chief Executive Rob Heys said: "Romu hasn't been happy for a while for a number of reasons, and has ultimately decided that he wants to move on.
"He is a great lad who I know will go on and do well in football and in life in general. He scored our first league goals last season and it was fantastic to watch him represent his country last month in the African Nations tournament.
"As a friend and as a player we wish him all the best for the future."
Boco joined early on in Stanley's Conference winning season and went on to score our first ever Football League goal against Barnet a year later - for that his name will forever be etched in Stanley's history books. In all, he made 88 apprearances, scoring eight goals. He leaves with the very best wishes of everyone at the club.
